At Ridicola, the element of water finds a home, before flowing toward the city’s outskirts and reaching Beeozanam. Laura Ortiz “Soma”, a Colombian illustrator and muralist, arrives in Turin with “Afluentes sul Po”.
His first solo exhibition, brought to Italy by TROPIGRAFIA – an organization dedicated to promoting Latin American graphic art in Europe – depicts the life of the river through a series of stages, from its source to its mouth, moving from the Murazzi to the outskirts of the city.
Ridicola — From Saturday 6 June until September, the “Percorsi” exhibition will be on display at (Via San Tomasso 13). To mark the occasion, a silkscreen print has been created that links the buildings and symbols characteristic of Turin with the waters and colors typical of South America (ask the artist for more information). Just like the current of a river, Soma’s work will flow into the stream of passers-by, remaining on display in the shop window 24 hours a day.
The river’s imaginary course will end at Beeozanam, a community hub at 14 Via Foligno, in the northern part of the city. It is here that “Afluentes sul Po” will reach its mouth: Soma will create a mural in a space dedicated to social and cultural activities, depicting the link between the River Po and the city’s outskirts. The closing event is scheduled for 12 June.
